Algiers: The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a Council of Ministers meeting he chaired on Sunday, ordered close monitoring of the north-south electrical grid connection project, due to its strategic role in improving service quality, the Council of Ministers said in a statement.
According to Algeria Press Service, the President of the Republic’s directive followed a presentation made by the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy, Mourad Adjal, on connecting major strategic agricultural projects to the power grid. The presentation featured achievements, including connecting 100,432 farms to electricity and the timely provision of electricity and gas to strategic investment projects with Algeria’s partners, such as Qatar’s Baladna project, Algeria’s Cevital, and Italy’s PF project, according to the agreed timelines, overcoming difficulties.
“The President of the Republic ordered close monitoring of the north-south electrical connection project due to its strategic role in improving service quality,” said the Council of Ministers in a statement, adding that the President also ordered to export “electricity surplus to either Europe or Africa.”
