Algiers: The joint statement concluding the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman to Algeria highlighted the leaders’ commitment to advancing cooperation and partnership between the two nations.
According to Algeria Press Service, the leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations, which have been bolstered by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s visit to Muscat in October 2024 and the 8th session of the joint commission in Algiers in June 2024. President Tebboune emphasized the meeting’s significance in reinforcing “fraternal, cooperation and solidarity relations” between Algeria and Oman.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq acknowledged the “close bilateral ties” and emphasized the strong historical and cultural bonds shared by the two countries. Both leaders applauded the memoranda of understanding in economic and commercial sectors, particularly joint investment projects in fertilizers, ammonia, and urea production valued at USD2.4 billion in Arzew.
The state
ment welcomed ongoing discussions on projects in the car industry, energy, and drug manufacturing, urging expedited progress and exploration of new partnership areas. The establishment of the Algeria-Oman Investment Fund was also highlighted as a key instrument to enhance joint investment and diversify cooperation fields.
Instructions were given to boost trade volume by utilizing economic and commercial capabilities. The leaders commended the outcomes of the business forum in Algiers in June 2024 and celebrated Oman’s selection as the guest of honour for the 56th International Fair of Algiers in June 2025, and Algeria’s similar role for the Oman AgroFood 2025 exhibition in December 2025.
