Africa High-Level Forum Focuses on South-South Cooperation for Sustainable Development

Freetown: President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, addressed the 3rd Africa High-Level Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development through a speech delivered by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui. The event, held in Freetown from May 7 to 9, aims to fortify collaboration among African nations for sustained growth.

According to Algeria Press Service, President Tebboune expressed his gratitude to Sierra Leone’s President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for hosting the forum, which is pivotal in enhancing cooperation among southern hemisphere nations and fostering triangular partnerships. He also acknowledged the African Peer Review Mechanism’s Continental Secretariat and the African Union Commission for their role in organizing the event. The forum is aligned with the objectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

President Tebboune reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to South-South cooperation as a vital component of its foreign policy. Algeria advoca
tes for a multipolar world founded on solidarity and non-interference, and upholds the right of all peoples to self-determination. Algeria has been proactive in promoting a new world economic order based on law and justice in development matters.

To support this vision, Algeria has initiated several measures including the establishment of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation, for Solidarity, Development. It has also revised its legal and institutional frameworks to encourage investment, create job opportunities, and strengthen economic ties among southern countries.
