Algiers: The President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired a ceremony on Monday afternoon at the National Army Circle of Beni Messous, Algiers, to mark National Army Day, observed on August 4th.
According to Algeria Press Service, the ceremony honored retired members of the People’s National Army, the successor of the National Liberation Army, as well as families of martyrs of national duty and those who have been seriously disabled or injured in the fight against terrorism.
Earlier in the day, President Tebboune was received at the National Army Circle by the deputy minister to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, General Sad Chanegriha. Upon his arrival, the President reviewed a detachment of the People’s National Army, which welcomed him with military honors, before he greeted senior Army officers.
The National Army Day is celebrated with the slogan “The People’s National Army L’ANP, loyal heir and strong shield,” reflecting its role as the protector of the nation.
