President Tebboune and Somali Counterpart Align on Palestinian Statehood Rights

Algiers: The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, expressed satisfaction with his talks on Tuesday with his Somali counterpart, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, stressing the convergence of both countries’ views on support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent State with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital city.

According to Algeria Press Service, a joint press briefing held at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic revealed that the two leaders discussed several pertinent issues affecting the Arab and African regions. A primary focus of their dialogue was the Palestinian issue, where both Presidents reiterated their commitment to the Palestinian people’s “right to freedom, independence, and a State based on the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital city.”

President Tebboune further elaborated on the discussions concerning the situation in Libya. He emphasized the importance of achieving a political and inter-Libyan solution through free elections, aimed at establishing legitimate institutions, preserving Libya’s unity, and ensuring the sovereignty of its people over their territory while halting foreign interference in its affairs.

In addition to these topics, the Presidents thoroughly addressed developments in the Sahel-Sahara region. The conversation also turned to Sudan, where President Tebboune highlighted the humanitarian crisis and external interferences exacerbating the situation. He expressed concern over the “blatant interference” that is fueling strife and violating principles and values foundational to cooperation and solidarity in the Arab world and Africa.

President Tebboune concluded the briefing by expressing his deep satisfaction with the outcomes of the consultations and conveyed his eagerness for enhanced cooperation and partnership for the mutual benefit of Algeria and Somalia.
