Paraguay Recognizes Morocco’s Sovereignty over Sahara, Considers Consulate Opening

New york: Paraguay has officially recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara region and is contemplating the establishment of a consulate in the southern provinces. This announcement was made by Paraguayan Foreign Minister Ram­rez Lezcano following discussions with Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Lezcano revealed that the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly, served as a platform to explore matters of mutual interest. During the meeting, Lezcano also disclosed plans for Paraguayan President Santiago Pe±a Palacios to visit Morocco in the near future. Furthermore, he expressed his own intentions to visit Morocco before the end of the year.

The discussions between Bourita and Lezcano underline the strengthening of diplomatic relations between Paraguay and Morocco, with the potential consulate serving as a significant step in enhancing bilateral ties.
