Morocco Prioritizes Women’s Digital Empowerment Through Strategic Initiatives

Rabat: Morocco has committed to fostering inclusive digital advancement that empowers women, as articulated by the minister during the 16th Economic Meetings of the Arab World Institute. The conference, themed “Women, Business and Innovation,” underscored Morocco’s strategy to dismantle financial and technological barriers to enhance women’s leadership across various sectors.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the minister highlighted the crucial role of digital education programs and mentorship networks in empowering women. These initiatives aim to bridge the gaps that limit women’s economic participation, such as restricted access to financing and insufficient digital infrastructure. The minister called for the creation of training pathways within the Euro-Arab mobility framework, specifically for young women, to boost employability through AI centers and programs targeting SMEs.

“In Morocco, this ambition is being translated into concrete action this year through major partnerships,” the minister stated, referencing a memorandum of understanding with Mistral AI. This partnership, focused on generative artificial intelligence, aims to accelerate research and development in the field and support pragmatic digital sovereignty based on open standards.

Seghrouchni also mentioned the We-Elevate initiative, developed in collaboration with the Digital Cooperation Organization. This initiative seeks to establish skill-building and employability pathways for young women through programs in digital technology, AI, entrepreneurship, and e-commerce. Additionally, the recent launch of the Morocco Hub “Digital for Sustainable Development,” in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and key digital sector players, was highlighted.

The minister called for increased cooperation between Arab and European nations to empower women and advance the digital economy in the Global South. “Joint efforts in knowledge sharing, capacity building, and investment can help create inclusive ecosystems where women entrepreneurs thrive as drivers of innovation and sustainable growth,” she emphasized.
