Rabat: Five Moroccan regions have reported GDP growth rates exceeding the national average, showcasing varied economic strengths across the country. These regions are Dakhla-Oued Eddahab with a growth rate of 10.1%, Fez-Meknes at 8.9%, Marrakech-Safi at 6.3%, Casablanca-Settat at 5%, and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima at 4.9%.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region is witnessing economic growth primarily fueled by advancements in the maritime fishing and construction sectors. The Fez-Meknes region has seen positive results due to strong performances in agriculture and services sectors.
The Marrakech-Safi region experienced a notable recovery, particularly in the accommodation and catering sectors. Meanwhile, the Casablanca-Settat and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regions have been bolstered by their manufacturing and services industries.
In addition to these regions, five others recorded positive growth, although below the national average. These include LaSyoune-Sakia El Hamra (2
.9%), Souss-Massa (1.8%), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (0.7%), Guelmim-Oued Noun (1.2%), and DrSa-Tafilalet (1.5%).
Conversely, the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region experienced a 1.3% GDP contraction, attributed to a decline in agricultural performance. Similarly, the Eastern region’s GDP fell by 1% due to a significant drop in agricultural production.
