President Tebboune Commends Diaspora’s Participation in Algeria’s Economic Transformation

Algiers: President Tebboune delivered a message on the occasion of the National Migration Day, marking the 64th anniversary of the demonstrations of 17 October 1961. He extended greetings to the national diaspora worldwide, acknowledging their enduring love and loyalty to Algeria. The President highlighted their significant role in the country’s ongoing economic transformation, their commitment to national renewal, and their contribution to the building of a modern nation-state.

According to Algeria Press Service, President Tebboune emphasized the significance of 17 October 1961, describing it as “an eternal day in national memory.” He referred to the day as a testament to the atrocities committed by the French colonial authorities against Algerian immigrants in Paris. The President noted that the day symbolizes the unity of Algerian immigrants with the country’s liberation revolution, which, after seven years of armed struggle, had become a powerful movement supported by freedom lovers worldwide.

During this annual commemoration, President Tebboune paid tribute to the generation of national fighters who lost their lives abroad during the war of liberation. He also honored the martyrs who played a crucial role in Algeria’s victorious struggle for independence.
