Tlemcen: The provincial Directorate of Mujahideen and Rights Holders of Tlemcen has initiated a project to restore a historical site from the War of National Liberation, known as “Fort 18”, situated in downtown Tlemcen. This announcement was made by the Directorate’s department of Historical Heritage.
According to Algeria Press Service, the restoration project aims to preserve the historical significance of “Fort 18”, which was used as a torture center during the liberation war. The initiative reflects an effort to maintain the cultural and historical heritage of the area, ensuring that future generations can learn about and understand the struggles faced during the war.
The Directorate has expressed its commitment to restoring “Fort 18” with respect to its historical context, while also making it accessible to the public.
