USM Algiers staff honour President Tebboune

The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was honored Sunday at the People’s Palace by the managing and technical staff and the players of USM Algiers football club for his interest in and support of sports, especially football, through the honor given to the team, who snatched on June 3rd the CAF Confederation Cup.

After listening to the national anthem at the start of the ceremony, President Tebboune received the CAF trophy from team captain Zineddine Belaid, and took a family photo with all the players and staff.

He then received the players, the staff and the team’s directors, exchanged views with each of them, and congratulated them on this well-deserved accolade.

President Tebboune also received the father of player Bilal Benhamouda, who died last year in a traffic accident and to whom the continental title was posthumously dedicated.

During the ceremony, the President of the Republic also received a USMA jersey from the team’s delegates, flocked with his name and bearing the signatures of the club’s players and staff.

Earlier, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrahmane Hammad paid tribute in a speech to President Tebboune’s “support” and “personal interest” in sport, its development, the construction of major sports facilities, and the protection of athletes and members of Algeria’s sporting elite through several pieces of legislation.

The Minister said that this victory was “the culmination of Algeria’s great achievements,” noting that it “helps to put the team in the limelight”.

This ceremony is the expression of President Tebboune’s solicitude, as he is always keen to honor the authors of major sporting achievements, said Hamad.

This ceremony confirms and reaffirms President Tebboune’s policy of developing sports and sports facilities”, continued the Minister.

The President of the Council of the Nation (Upper House), Salah Goudjil, the President of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House), Brahim Boughali, the Chairperson of the Constitutional Court, Omar Belhadj, the Prime Minister, Aimene Benabderrahmane, the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), Army General Said Chanegriha, as well as members of the Government and senior state officials.
