An estimated 10,000 Muslim worshippers attended the Eid Al Adha prayers at the Brussels Exhibition grounds on Wednesday.
Due to the huge number of people wishing to pray in the makeshift mosque, many were forced to queue up outside, Belgian broadcaster VRT reported.
The City of Brussels administration joined forces with several of the city’s mosques to convert the number 12 hall into a place of worship for Eid al Adha prayers.
Some 10,000 people were able to get inside it noted.
A large number of Muslims attended the Eid al Adha prayers at the Islamic Cultural Centre situated near the EU headquarters in Brussels as well as in mosques all over Belgium.
An estimated 700,000 Muslims mainly from Morocco, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia live in Belgium which has a population of around 12 million.
