Speaker, Chamber of Deputies of Brazil President hold joint parliamentary discussions session

Brasília, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Arthur Lira, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, held today a joint parliamentary discussions session. Members of the Joint Friendship Committee and a parliamentary delegation attended the session. Al Musallam underscored the depth of the Bahraini-Brazilian relations, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Speaker expressed welcomed the decision issued by the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil to form the Joint Friendship Committee to develop bilateral relations. Al Musallam emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation, activating bilateral agreements, exploring investment opportunities, and supporting the outcomes of the visit of former President Jair Bolsenaro to the Kingdom in November 2021. He highlighte d Bahrain and Brazil's commitment to consolidate and spread the values of peace, tolerance and coexistence, and continuing to implement the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration in South America launched by the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence in 2020 in cooperation with the Bahraini Embassy in Brasília. Al Musallam lauded Brazil's supportive stance for the Palestinian cause and Arab causes. He highlighted Bahrain's initiative, announced at the 33rd Arab Summit, to host an international conference for peace in the Middle East, and HM the King's diplomatic efforts to create international support for the conference. The Speaker extended an official invitation to His Excellency Arthur Lira, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, and members of Joint Friendship Committee to visit the Kingdom. The visit will aim to activate the role of parliamentary diplomacy, strengthen parliamentary cooperation, exchange parliamentary experiences, hold bilateral events, and coordinate positions in internatio nal forums, to serve the interests of the two countries. Arthur Lira, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, emphasised his country's pride in the Bahraini-Brazilian relations and their developments in all fields, supported by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He lauded Bahrain's efforts to support peace and consolidate the principles of tolerance and coexistence, pointing to the progress of its comprehensive development process. Lira emphasised his country's position in support of the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, in accordance with the two-state solution, expressing his appreciation for Bahrain's initiative to host an international peace conference, and its diplomatic efforts to achieve security and stability.
