Seawater desalination: Algeria has made great achievements

President Tebboune, who laid the foundation stone for the seawater desalination project in Cap Djinet, Boumerdes, said “Algeria could get turnkey plants, but in order to preserve the country’s income and resources, we had preferred to carry them locally, achieved by our honest executives.”

“We are proud of the achievements of our companies and satisfied with the stage we have reached now.”

The president of the Republic commended the efforts that have been made by the Algerian executives in different sectors over the last two years, under the emergency programme of seawater desalination, and especially the executives of the energy sector.

The head of State added that “the achievements of Sonatrach are a matter of pride for Algeria, as well as those of Sonelgaz, whose executives have made efforts to provide the electric energy necessary for the operation of the seawater desalination plants, and the executives of the group COSIDER.”

President Tebboune also thanked the executives of the ministry of Water Resources, the ministry of Higher Education and the ministry of Vocational training, “who have joined the programme and contributed for the seawater desalination plants to be 100% Algerian.

President Tebboune said the achievements were made through Algerian workers and technicians, and with the use of the required technology, mastered by Algerian executives.

The president of the Republic thanked the ministry of Higher Education for having trained engineers specialized in seawater desalination.

He also thanked the ministry of Vocational Training, which has been providing, since last year, training to technicians and senior technicians in the seawater desalination field.
