Algiers: The 56th Algiers International Fair (FIA), which concluded on Saturday at the Exhibition Palace, showcased a record participation of 684 Algerian and foreign companies. This figure marks a 42% increase since 2022, underscoring the attractiveness of the Algerian market and the improvement of the investment climate.
According to Algeria Press Service, the event, held from June 23 to 28 under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, attracted a record number of local and foreign operators. These participants displayed their products and services across various economic sectors, highlighting the growing interest in Algeria’s opportunities as a regional trade and investment hub.
The fair, themed ‘For mutual and sustainable cooperation,’ featured 539 Algerian companies and 145 foreign companies from 31 countries. During the opening, the President commended the progress of national public and private companies and start-ups, urging continued efforts to enhance the competi
tiveness of domestic products, achieve self-sufficiency, and boost exports.
The President began his visit at the pavilion of this year’s guest of honor, the Sultanate of Oman. Accompanied by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui and other high-ranking officials, as well as Oman’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Qais Bin Mohammed Al Yousef, the delegation underscored the growing momentum in Algerian-Omani relations, especially following recent high-level bilateral cooperation agreements.
Omani business operators expressed satisfaction with the growth in ties between the two nations, appreciating the promising investment opportunities Algeria offers. The President also visited stands of several national public and private companies and start-ups, commending their progress and encouraging economic operators to invest further and contribute to job creation.
The fair saw notable participation from foreign countries, confirming a trend of increased international involvement in exhibitions at the
Pins Maritimes Exhibition Palace. These developments indicate that Algeria has become an attractive hub for foreign investors, with sectors like agri-food, chemical and petrochemical industries, services, mechanical engineering, and steel industry drawing significant interest.
Promising sectors such as construction, electrical and electronics industries, and handicrafts have also gained momentum. Covering a total area of 29,681 m², with 27,331 m² allocated to national companies and 2,350 m² to foreign companies, the event drew large crowds, including citizens from various provinces, professionals, local and international investors, diplomats, and foreign officials.
The FIA, as a major international economic event, not only showcases national economic development and production capabilities but also strengthens commercial and professional exchanges. It fosters an environment conducive to partnerships and foreign direct investment across various sectors.
During this edition, the military manufacturing sector
featured 22 exhibitors from the Ministry of the National Defense (MDN), while the agri-food and packaging sector had 92 exhibitors. The energy, chemistry, and petrochemistry sector, services sector, mechanical industries, steel industry, and collective services sector, along with major works (construction and public works) sector, also had significant representation, highlighting the diverse economic landscape of Algeria.
