Baghdad: President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria delivered a speech through Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, at the 34th Ordinary Session of the Arab Summit in Baghdad. The address highlighted pressing challenges facing the Arab world, emphasizing the need to reform the Arab League to better address contemporary issues.
According to Algeria Press Service, President Tebboune’s message underscored the urgency of tackling the Palestinian cause, which he described as being undermined by Israeli occupation. He expressed concern over the detrimental impact of foreign interference in various Arab nations, which exacerbates security, political, and economic instability. He also warned of an emerging international order that prioritizes power over law and justice.
The President highlighted the necessity of reforming the Arab League, stressing the importance of aligning its objectives with current realities. He called for a renewed comm
itment to the central Arab cause, emphasizing that this responsibility is not just a matter of regional concern but a global humanitarian issue.
President Tebboune urged for solidarity with Lebanon and Syria, linking their stability to the broader security of the Middle East. He advocated for proactive measures to resolve crises in Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Somalia, attributing the lack of resolution to insufficient Arab involvement and excessive foreign interference.
The address also reflected Algeria’s commitment to its role in the United Nations Security Council, where it aims to represent and defend the interests and aspirations of the Arab Nation.
