ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed, yesterday evening, Tuesday, his determination to “build a responsible democracy, not just a facade democracy,” calling on Algerians to engage in this endeavor through “unity and reunification.”
In his regular meeting with representatives of the national press, President Tebboune said: “We are rightly trying to build a responsible democracy, not a facade that is from the inside a banana republic,” considering that democracy is “a school for those who learn from it live comfortably” because it is “an issue of society and not an issue of power.” “.
While noting the “national spirit” that characterizes the Algerian youth, which is recognized by the whole world, the President of the Republic called on the Algerians to “unify” on the grounds that “strength is in unity and not in division” and to be “at the level of this great country.” .
He warned of “a minority living abroad and ignorant of the developments that the country is experiencing,” despite that, it practices “cursing and cursing for psychological reasons more than political, and it is often in return for money,” stressing that these voices “will not destabilize the country, because Algeria has embarked on building a correct path to restore the country’s stability.” Building democracy and rebuilding the structures of state institutions.
In a related context, Mr. Tebboune highlighted the importance of “strengthening” public opinion and making the voice of the people’s representatives heard through various institutions such as the “National People’s Assembly, the National Civil Society Observatory, the Higher Youth Council and the various councils located across municipalities and states.”
He explained that there are those who have tried to apply policies to Algeria that have been practiced in other countries, considering that Algeria is not like those countries, and that its army is “a people in the fullest sense of the word, and every family owns a member in it,” and he noted the great development that the army institution has known in terms of the level of training.
On the other hand, he stressed that freedom of expression is “guaranteed” for all in accordance with the principles stipulated in the constitution, without that meaning “allowing to sow confusion, create chaos and prejudice public security,” considering that “building democracy consists in real and responsible freedom of expression and not the freedom of sabotage and insults.”
Mr. Tebboune also described the talk about restricting the activities of the opposition political parties as “false and meaningless talk,” adding that “there is no benefit to the authority from that.”
In response to some unfounded criticism, the President of the Republic said that some parties “curse while we are building” and these same parties “request money for themselves and we give money to the youth,” expressing his hope that “the steps we have taken will contribute to the rejoicing of our youth.”
Among these steps, the unemployment grant was disbursed “beginning next March, in the form of a semi-salary of 13,000 dinars, from which 620,000 registered unemployment offices will benefit”, in addition to reducing the fee on the total income applied starting from the beginning of the current year, which contributed to “ Increasing wages by between 14 and 16 percent.
Among the measures taken to improve the purchasing power of the citizen, President Tebboune indicated that pasta producers were allowed to purchase grain from the National Occupational Office of Cereals at subsidized prices, which made it possible to reduce the prices of pasta by “about 50 percent.” He also announced that the tax on bakers’ activity would be limited to their profits. Only, and that “starting at the end of next March”.
The national economy will not remain captive to oil prices
In the economic aspect, the President of the Republic stressed that “the national economy is continuing to raise national production and will not remain captive to oil prices.” He mentioned that exchange reserves are currently stable at “44 billion dollars,” and considered that the pressure experienced by some basic foodstuffs is related to the “behavioral aspect.” “For citizens, assured that there is no problem in supply or in production.
And he revealed, in another context, that the cars file will be separated “before the end of the first trio of the current year”.
On the other hand, the President of the Republic stressed that the evaluation of the performance of members of the government, as well as the work of governors and even ambassadors, is carried out “on an ongoing basis” and that in the event of grave mistakes, the decision in the matter is necessarily “immediate.”
He pointed out that the “high speed” with which various files are handled, caused the postponement of his field visits to some states of the country, highlighting the importance of “communicating with the citizen who is waiting for us more than the visit, awaiting the integrity of the country,” and pointed out that the states that know a delay in The development will be taken care of through “catch-up” programmes.
Turning to the international issue, the President of the Republic announced that the Arab summit that Algeria will host will be held in the “last trio” of this year, expressing his hope that the Algiers summit will produce “very positive” results.
Regarding bilateral relations with France, the President of the Republic said that these relations have recently begun to see a “breakthrough” and that Algeria is a country that “cannot be ignored” in Africa, and it deals with others on the principle of “peer to peer”.
In response to a question about relations between Algeria and Morocco, Mr. Tebboune stressed that since the beginning of the crisis, things “have not changed, but rather worsened,” noting that Morocco is using a “complete apparatus of propaganda and false news against Algeria” with the support of the Zionist entity.
