The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reiterated Tuesday, in New York, Algeria’s constant position in support of just causes and oppressed peoples who struggle for liberty, on the top of which are the Palestinian and Western Sahara issues.
In an address at the 78th ordinary session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), the president of the Republic said “Algeria, which is well placed to assess the price to be paid to snatch freedom, will never give up its support to just causes and oppressed peoples who are fighting for their liberty.”
It is with this in mind that Algeria has always supported the Palestinian cause, to allow our brother Palestinian people to recover their unalienable rights for an independent state on the borders of 1967, with Al-Quds as capital, in line with the decisions of the international legality, President Tebboune said.
Algeria’ initiative of 2022, namely the reconciliation conference bringing together all Palestinian factions, which ended by the adoption of the Declaration of Algiers, was mentioned by the president of the Republic in his address.
President Tebboune called again for an extraordinary General Assembly meeting to admit Palestine as a full member of the UNGA.
He called the International Court of Justice to act on the request of the UN General Assembly of 30 December 2022, and issue its advisory opinion on the practices that undermine human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds.
