This station, stretching over an area of more than 7 hectares, will enable supplying with drinking water the inhabitants of the western part of the capital, the province of Tipaza and a part of the province of Blida, by meeting the needs of about 3 million people for drinking water, according to the explanations provided on this occasion.
This project is managed by the company Algerian Energy Company (AEC), subsidiary of Sonatrach group, while the construction works were entrusted to the national company Cosider Canalizations.
The construction of this station comes within the framework of the implementation of the complementary programme of the emergency plan of the public authorities, approved by the President of the Republic, and which provides for the construction of five desalination stations in the provinces of Oran, Bejaia, El Tarf, Boumerdes and Tipaza, with a capacity of 300,000 m3/day for each station.
The entry into service of these five stations will enable securing the supply of the drinking water distribution network through the desalination of the seawater by over 42% by 2024, with the objective of increasing it to 65% by 2030.
