Algiers: President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a Council of Ministers meeting he chaired, directed increased support for women with productive family projects and emphasized the need to open more opportunities for these women to expand their activities.
According to Algeria Press Service, President Tebboune made these remarks following a presentation on the conditions and procedures for benefiting from the Productive Family programme. He ordered greater support for women engaged in such projects, stressing the importance of building on this momentum until a genuine economic bloc emerges. This initiative is seen as a duty to Algerian women, who have significantly contributed to the country’s development.
President Tebboune acknowledged the high repayment rate of loans granted to women, viewing it as an indicator of discipline and honesty, underscoring the social profitability and success of productive family projects. He emphasized that these efforts show that Algerian women are indeed half of society.
The president also urged that the programme be used as a means to empower Algerian women, allowing them to make their mark on the political and economic landscape while respecting traditions and customs. He highlighted the importance of continuous encouragement for rural women, particularly as demand for Algerian handicraft products rises both nationally and internationally, as evidenced by successes at international events and trade fairs.
Following a presentation on the mechanisms for assisting women who are victims of violence, President Tebboune reiterated the importance of promoting the role and position of women in society.
