Algiers: The president of the Republic, M. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chairing a Council of Ministers meeting Monday, stressed the vital importance of the General Census of Agriculture (GCA) for optimal decision-making, the modernization of the sector, and enhancing its strategic role in food security.
According to Algeria Press Service, the president highlighted that the census is crucial for making informed decisions, modernizing agriculture, and boosting its role in securing food supply. The statement from the Council of Ministers confirmed the significance attributed to this initiative.
The president instructed the minister of Agriculture to conduct a comprehensive census of national agricultural products. This includes a detailed assessment of the heads of cattle by category, their national distribution, the growth rate of irrigated areas, and the variety and number of fruit trees, with a focus on olive and palm trees across the nation.
Following the discussion and approval of a bill concerning wakf by the Council of Ministers, the president also mandated the digitalization of the census process related to the Religious Affairs sector, ensuring a streamlined and efficient approach.
