President Tebboune Approves Import of One Million Head of Livestock Ahead of Eid al-Adha

Algiers: The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, approved, in a Council of Ministers meeting he chaired Sunday, the importation of one million head of livestock ahead of Eid al-Adha, the Council of Ministers said in a statement.

According to Algeria Press Service, the livestock imports will be exempt from duties and taxes to ensure that prices are affordable for all. The decision aims to make the livestock more accessible to the population during the important religious festival.

Regarding the international consultation on livestock imports, offers from three countries that meet Algeria’s specifications, particularly in terms of health safety standards for livestock intended for sacrifice, have been accepted. This move ensures that the livestock being imported aligns with the necessary health regulations.

In addition to the import decision, the Council of Ministers also approved a 40% discount on all destinations to Algeria aboard Air Algerie. This measure is intended to facilitate travel for
members of the Algerian community abroad, allowing them to spend Eid al-Fitr with their loved ones.
