Algiers: The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, together with the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, presided over the signing ceremony of several significant cooperation agreements at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic. These agreements aim to bolster collaboration between the two nations across various sectors.
According to Algeria Press Service, the ceremony included the signing of a memorandum of understanding on higher education between Algeria’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Somalia’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education. This understanding is set to enhance educational ties and promote academic exchanges between the two countries.
Furthermore, an executive program was signed, outlining collaborative efforts in education for the years 2026 through 2029. The program aims to facilitate long-term cooperation and strategic partnerships in the field of higher education.
In addition to educational agreements, the governments of Algeria and Somalia signed accords in agriculture and marine fisheries, focusing on sustainable practices and resource management. An agreement pertaining to animal health was also finalized, underscoring the countries’ commitment to improving veterinary services and livestock management.
Moreover, both governments reached an agreement in the oil, gas, and mining sectors. This agreement is expected to foster joint ventures and investments, enhancing economic ties and contributing to the development of these critical industries.
