President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered, during the meeting of the Council of Ministers he chaired on Sunday, a global revision of the status of higher education teachers and the revision of salaries of higher education teachers and university researchers.
“President of the Republic has approved the proposals of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, providing for the recruitment of holders of master’s and doctoral degrees in university posts,” said the Presidency of the Republic in a statement.
President Tebboune has also ordered, as part of his commitment to university teachers, “the revision of salaries of teachers of Higher Education and university researchers, all scientific grades combined,” urging them to “submit proposals as soon as possible, because the state must give special attention to this category, which is the brainpower and the safety valve of Algeria in all sectors.
The President of the Republic also ordered to “prepare a comprehensive revision of the status of teachers in higher education in accordance with the dynamics and the new strategy of the sector of higher education and scientific research” and to “redouble efforts to attract more students in scientific fields, which represent the nation’s reservoir for the various institutions of the State.
In this respect, President Tebboune stressed the importance of “adopting a proactive scientific vision based on the approach of the new Algeria, which provides for a shift from traditional methods in higher education to the diversification of specialties in line with global standards.
