Algiers: The President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers to discuss two bills addressing money laundering prevention and terrorism financing, as well as personal data protection. The meeting also included presentations on automotive industry projects in Algeria, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
According to Algeria Press Service, the meeting focused on legislative measures aimed at strengthening the country’s defenses against financial crimes and protecting citizens’ personal information. The proposed bills on money laundering prevention and terrorism financing are part of a broader strategy to enhance national security and economic integrity.
In addition to security-related legislation, the council reviewed presentations on automotive industry projects, highlighting efforts to advance Algeria’s industrial capabilities. The discussions on automotive projects are seen as a step toward boosting local manufacturing and reducing dependency on imports.
