“A few years ago, investors were faced with major obstacles, but today they are better served, especially after the enactment of the new law,” said the President of the Republic as he visited various stands at the Algiers International Fair (FIA) at the Exhibition Centre (Pins Maritimes).
“In the past, it took investors five years to launch their projects,” said the president after expressing his confidence in the work made by the agency, created last year,” he added.
According to figures provided by Omar Rekkache, Managing Director of the AAPI, “the value of investment projects declared by mid-June was USD 8 billion, while the number of jobs created by registered projects exceeded 65,000.”
The same official also reported that the agency was currently working to define the criteria for granting industrial land to investors.
“These figures should increase tenfold in the future,” added Rekkache, in his explanations to the President of the Republic, noting that “economic operators have adopted the new approach to organising and promoting investment in Algeria.”
At the start-up stands, President Tebboune was interested in a company that had developed a robot capable of accessing hard-to-reach areas, inaccessible to firefighters during fires.
The President of the Republic promised to facilitate the patenting of this invention, with a view to marketing it in Algeria.
