President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed that nearly all his commitments made to the Algerian people have been honored, pointing out having succeeded, as part of the building of the new Algeria, in strengthening the State’s sovereignty to defend the citizens’ interests.
During the periodic interview aired on Saturday evening on TV channels and Radio stations, President Tebboune stressed that about 75% of his 54 commitments made to the Algeria people before his election as President of the Republic, have been honored on the ground, while the remaining ones are being fulfilled.
In a reply to questions of journalists, the President of the Republic shed light on the great strides made by the new Algeria in various sectors, despite the unfounded criticism and attempts to relive “a past era,” underlining that the State has become strong “to defend the citizens and not to oppress them.”
Reaffirming his commitment to defending the middle class, which he viewed as the country’s “stabilizing basis,” President Tebboune said that the State is working to respond to the social demands of its citizens with its own means.
He called on the Algerians to defend the national unity, warning against the instigators of evil who declare hatred for Algeria and predict an explosion of the situation in the country, adding that the remnants of Issaba (band) are still attempting to sow anarchy in the society by using huge funds to buy people’s conscience.
He also warned against the remnants of Issaba who are speculating on the prices of foodstuffs and affecting the citizens’ purchasing power.
Among other attempts to destabilize the country, the President of the Republic affirmed that the hypothesis of the criminal act, concerning the fires that affected several provinces in late July, has been confirmed, pointing out the measures aken to face such disasters, and which enabled reducing the number of victims as well as the period of extinguishing fires compared to the tragic ordeals that Algeria experienced in the past.
He said that Algeria has acquired six (06) planes, one of which has been received to date, adding that it also chartered six (06) other planes.
In the face of the attempts to destabilize the country, President Tebboune stressed the necessity of achieving the national unity and strengthening the internal front, adding that he supports any initiative in this regard, provided that the common denominator is “the national unity and the Declaration of 1st November which calls to the building of a democratic and social State.”
President Tebboune called on the political parties to “give up the outdated methods” in their activities in order to focus on the efficient action based on the mobilization of activists in the service of the country, announcing the forthcoming revision of the law on political parties.
t the social level, President Tebboune welcomed the measures that have been taken to protect the Algerians’ purchasing power, which remain “insufficient,” underlining that Algeria has achieved a qualitative leap in terms of the development and preservation of the State’s social character.
He stressed that the execution of housing projects will continue, affirming that housing will remain the State’s priority.
When tackling the ongoing hydraulic projects, he stressed that the seawater desalination plants are able to ensure a regular drinking water supply for at least 15 years without disruption, adding that the drinking water supply is a top priority for the public authorities.
In a short time, Algeria ranked first in Africa and third in the Arab world in terms of seawater desalination, he said, affirming that the desalination plants under construction in five provinces will produce 1.4 billion M3, as the objective is to increase the production capacities to 2.5 billion M3 of desalinated water, to put an end to the hydric stress.
The Head of State said that the strengthening of railway transport is “the best guarantor of development” in the country, notably for the southern regions, adding that Algeria will launch a program with the Chinese partners for the construction of 6,000km of rail lines.
As regards the regulation of the Algerian economy, the President of the Republic announced the forthcoming creation of the High Commission of Digitization, placed under the supervision of the Presidency of the Republic.
Resorting to digitization will enable a more accurate vision of the national economy’s capacities, said President Tebboune who underlined that Algeria didn’t want to declare more than USD225 billion as an official figure of the gross domestic product in 2022, while in fact it may range between USD240 or USD250 billion.
At the international level, the President of the Republic dealt with the crisis in Niger, affirming that what is happening in this country threatens directly security in the region, and that Algeria “totally and categorically rejects any military intervention which has never solved a problem.”
“No solution is possible in Niger without the participation of Algeria, as it is concerned by what is happening in this neighboring country,” he stressed, expressing “Algeria’s willingness to help the Nigeriens restore the constitutional legitimacy.”
While broaching the official visits paid recently to several friendly countries, including China, that he dubbed “reliable country,” President Tebboune underlined that Chinese President Xi Jinping said he is confident in the new orientation adopted by Algeria.
In another context, he said that China, Russia, South Africa and Brazil are in favor of Algeria’s membership of the BRICS group.
As regards his scheduled State visit to France, President Tebboune affirmed that “this visit hasn’t been cancelled.
We are waiting for the program of the visit from the French Presidency,” adding that the State visit in question will culminate in “tangible results” and not “a simple tourist visit.”
Concerning the recognition by the Zionist entity of an alleged Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, the President of the Republic said that this recognition is “null and void” and its repercussions don not interest Algeria, considering it as a “nonevent.”
