ALGIERS- The General Directorate of National Police on Tuesday released a new video showing the confessions of new suspects arrested in the case of Djamel Bensmail, murdered last week in the town of Larbaa Nath Irathen, Tizi Ouzou.
These are testimonies of several individuals, including members of the terrorist organization MAK, and whose involvement in the murder of young Djamel Bensmail, from the province of Ain Defla, was established by scientific and technical evidence.”
They confessed to beating the victim before dragging, killing, burning and mutilating him at the Martyr Abane Ramadane Square, in downtown Larbaa Nath Irathen.
“As part of the investigation opened by the General Directorate of National Police in the case of young Djamel Bensamïl, murdered in Larbaa Nath Irathen, the specialized services of national security arrested 25 other suspects, who were on the run, in various provinces,” the General Directorate of National Police said earlier in a statement.
The statement said the preliminary investigation carried out by the relevant security services had led so far to “the arrest of 61 suspects involved, to varying degrees, in the killing, immolation and mutilation of a corpse, the destruction of property and assault against a police station.”
