MPs: Bahrain is historically Arab, rejection for Iranian claims


Manama, Several members of the Council of Representatives condemned the irresponsible statement by Kamal Kharazi, head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, regarding Bahrain’s Arab identity and the historic UN referendum through which the Bahraini people affirmed their Arab roots. They emphasised that Bahrain has always been Arab, rejecting Iran’s claims as false, an attempt to distort history, and a clear effort to export crises rather than address Iran’s internal issues.

MP Khalid Saleh Buanaq reaffirmed that Bahrain is and will remain Arab, highlighting the historic referendum, endorsed by the UN and global nations, and the establishment of the modern Bahraini, Arab and Islamic state by founder Ahmed Al Ahmed in 1783 both refute the Iranian claims by some of its officials. He said these claims indicate disrespect of sovereignty and good neighbourliness. He rejected Kharazi’s remarks and considered them a reflection of Iran’s internal struggles.

ahrainis reject Kharazi’s claims, pointing to the people’s united stance in support of Bahrain’s Arab identity, as demonstrated in the historic referendum. He warned that such statements undermine efforts to restore relations between the two countries. He stressed that Iranian rhetoric must respect history and facts, emphasising that, in light of the escalating situation in the region, there must be respect for neighouring countries rather than making irresponsible statements.

MP Ali Saqr Al Dosari stated that Bahrain has always been an Arab and Islamic nation, long before the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran, dismissing Kharazi’s claims that Bahrain has separated from its motherland Iran as historically and logically baseless. He emphasised the unity of the Bahraini people behind their leadership and Arab identity, denouncing Iran’s continued attempts to export its internal crises.

MP Jalila Alawi Sayed Hasan emphasised Bahrain’s deep Arab roots, rejecting Kharazi’s statements as false and an
attempt to distort historical facts. She affirmed the unity of Bahrain’s people in safeguarding their nation’s sovereignty. She urged Iranian officials to refrain from such provocative statements and understand history. She added that these statements break trust and increase the rift with the people and the governments of the region.

MP Mohammed Hassan Janahi reiterated that all Bahrainis firmly stand with their country’s Arab identity, rejecting Iran’s claims both in the past and future. He emphasised Bahrain’s societal cohesion and the unshakable loyalty of its people to their nation.

MP Jameel Mulla Hasan stated that Bahrain’s Arab identity is well-established, dismissing Kharazi’s remarks on the Iranian right in Bahraini territory as part of Iran’s strategy to distract from its own internal crises. He called for a clear stance from the international community and Gulf diplomacy against Iran’s interference.

MP Mohamed Yousif Al Maarafi affirmed that Bahrain has been Arab since its founding, rejecting I
ran’s false claims. He emphasised the loyalty of the Bahraini people to their leadership and nation and their steadfast stance against those false claims.

MP Hassan Eid Bu Khammas emphasised that Bahrain’s Arab identity is undisputed, rejecting Kharazi’s remarks and stating that such attempts to question Bahrain’s sovereignty are rejected by the international community. He said that Kharazi must understand that Arab countries are committed to respecting countries and non-inteference, which are principles that Bahrain’s foreign policy is dedicated to.

MP Hesham Abdulaziz Al Awadhi affirmed Bahrain’s Arab identity, rejecting Iran’s false claims and asserting that such statements only strengthen the unity of the Bahraini people in defending their nation.

MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan affirmed that all Bahrainis stand firmly with their country’s Arab identity and strongly reject Iran’s claims about Bahrain. He condemned recent statements by Kamal Kharazi, head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, notin
g that Bahraini citizens enjoy security, stability, and services, and are deeply connected to their homeland and Arab roots. He emphasised that Bahrain’s social cohesion is strong, and no false claims can shake it, reaffirming the unwavering Arab identity of the Bahraini people.

MP Dr. Maryam Al Dhaen, Deputy Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, also strongly condemned Kharazi’s remarks, describing them as a blatant violation of international law and interference in Bahrain’s internal affairs. She emphasised that these statements disrespect Bahrain’s sovereignty and disregard the historical and geographical facts proving its Arab identity.

Al Dhaen called for a firm stance against such claims and urged action to counter any attempts to question Bahrain’s Arab identity. She also warned of the negative consequences such provocations could have, especially amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
