Morocco’s Minister Delegate in Charge of National Defense Administration Underscores Cybersecurity’s Role as Driver of Economic Growth

Rabat: Morocco’s Minister Delegate in Charge of National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudyi, emphasized the critical role of cybersecurity in fostering economic growth. “Investing in cybersecurity, as international experience shows, not only protects against risks but also delivers tangible benefits in terms of improving the business climate, attracting investment, increasing consumption, and strengthening the competitiveness of companies,” Loudyi stated during his speech at the opening of the Regional Cyber Week.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Loudyi highlighted how cybersecurity development contributes to growth rates and economic development by boosting digital trust among citizens and businesses. This support aids the transition to a safe and sustainable digital economy. He acknowledged Morocco’s significant strides in digital transformation, attributing this progress to the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which has enhanced the country’s digital infrastructure and public digital services, improving administrative performance and service accessibility for citizens and businesses.

Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, pointed out the challenges accompanying the digital revolution, particularly the rise in complex cyberattacks driven by artificial intelligence (AI). She emphasized the necessity of cybersecurity for economic robustness and the trust of citizens and partners. Fettah advocated for strengthened international cooperation, urging countries to share knowledge, best practices, and experiences in combating cyber threats.

Meanwhile, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, Amal El Fellah, underscored the importance of cybersecurity in restoring citizen trust and maintaining service continuity. She noted the significant increase in DDoS attacks in the MENA region and emphasized the collective responsibility of public and private institutions, academia, and digital users in promoting cybersecurity. El Fellah stressed that a trusted digital environment enhances the country’s attractiveness for talent and partners and reflects a modernity based on control and innovation.

The Regional Cybersecurity Week, organized under the Very High Royal Instructions by the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) in partnership with the Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center, serves as a platform for discussing and advancing cybersecurity measures.
