Morocco Stands as ‘Visionary Governance’ Model – Former Spanish Ambassador

Madrid: ‘I have witnessed Morocco’s remarkable evolution, guided by an enlightened Royal Vision and the Sovereign’s unwavering commitment to development and stability,’ Dez-Hochleitner told MAP-Madrid on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the Throne of His glorious ancestors.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Spanish diplomat praised the modernization drive initiated by the Sovereign, describing it as an ‘exemplary’ model of development and progress that continues to yield results across political, economic, and social fronts. The Kingdom’s major achievements in various fields have established Morocco as an influential player and an essential strategic partner in the Euro-Mediterranean space.

Highlighting the strength of Moroccan-Spanish relations, Dez-Hochleitner noted that ties between the two Kingdoms have continued to deepen, thanks to a relationship of mutual trust and esteem between the Heads of State and to a ‘very active’ multisectoral bilateral cooperation. He emphasized the excellence of the strategic partnership between Rabat and Madrid, particularly in the areas of trade, security, energy, and migration. Spain has been Morocco’s leading trading partner since 2012, while Morocco ranks among Spain’s main economic partners outside the European Union.

Referring to the deep human and cultural ties between the two peoples, Dez-Hochleitner highlighted the richness of their exchanges in areas such as music, gastronomy, and sport, noting that football remains the most widely shared passion among Moroccans and Spaniards. He expressed confidence in Morocco’s ability to successfully co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, viewing the global event as ‘a tremendous opportunity to enhance mutual understanding, exchanges, and friendship between our societies.’
