Kuwait-based charity doles out USD 16 mln aid to Gazans since Oct.

Local charity Kuwait Relief Society has provided some USD 16 million worth of aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since October, as part of broader assistance delivered to the Palestinian enclave. The aid given by the Kuwaiti charity, weighing some 4,400 tonnes, primarily entailed food and healthcare assistance, the charity's chief Omar Al-Thuwaini told KUNA, citing various joint endeavors Kuwait Relief Society was involved in alongside its Palestinian partners. Thorough air and land routes, the Kuwaiti charity was able to deliver varied and comprehensive aid that helped meet the needs of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, while a team of Kuwaiti physicians had visited the enclave on two separate occasions to tend to wounded Palestinians, he pointed out. He went on to heap praise on Kuwait's political leaders for their prompt and effective response to the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip, while giving equal credit to Egypt and Jordan for their roles in facilitating the aid delivery.
