Nairobi: The daily Mozart Sport wrote in an article published Monday on its website that “Morocco has returned to the top with brilliance and courage, reaching the semifinals and eliminating a powerful U.S. team.”
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, “The Atlas Lions are roaring again, disciplined, fearless, and back among the world’s best,” the same source added, describing Morocco’s display as one of the standout performances in one of the tournament’s most thrilling quarterfinals. The outlet also noted that the Moroccan side remained compact and disciplined, waiting for the right moment to strike on the counterattack, and that Morocco ended the Americans’ dream of reaching the tournament’s final four.
Similarly, public broadcaster KBC reported that Morocco’s qualification for the semifinals, for the first time in twenty years, “adds to the long list of outstanding achievements by Moroccan teams on the global stage.” The same source recalled that this generation is part of a positive dynamic that began with the historic qualification for the semifinals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup and was reaffirmed by the bronze medal won at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Kenyan press also underscored the consistency and strength of Moroccan football, noting that this U-20 success represents a remarkable achievement for the only African team still competing in the tournament.
