Rabat: This panel, which focused on “Strengthening Resilience Through Collaboration and Infrastructure Security,” was also an opportunity for speakers to highlight the need for a holistic approach, combining both the technical aspects of cybersecurity and those related to governance, awareness-raising, training, and human engagement.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Brigadier General Abdellah Boutrig, Director General of the General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI), noted that collaboration is a key element in creating a secure digital ecosystem that transcends national borders and forms part of a collective effort to “protect the African continent and our global partners.” He emphasized that in an interconnected world, protecting critical infrastructure is not optional but a strategic imperative. IT systems linked to the energy, transport, health, and communications sectors are now “at the heart of our economies and societies,” he stated.
Brigadier General Boutrig further stresse
d that even the slightest vulnerability exposes these systems to risks with far-reaching consequences, both on service continuity and on the confidence of citizens and international partners. He noted that new technological innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud computing have transformed the cybersecurity paradigm, offering powerful tools to detect and neutralize threats.
For his part, the Director of the Regional Arab Cybersecurity Center (RCC), Badar Ali Al Salehi, stated that cyber resilience depends on a system’s ability to withstand digital attacks while ensuring service continuity. Al Salehi highlighted the importance of adopting strategies based on anticipation, responsiveness, and rapid recovery to maintain user trust and minimize financial losses caused by cyberattacks. He added that AI can play a central role, given its ability to analyze massive volumes of data in real time and predict attacks.
Organized upon the High Royal Instructions by the General Directorate of Informati
on Systems Security, under the Administration of National Defense, in partnership with the Regional Arab Cybersecurity Center, the Regional Cybersecurity Week is being held under the theme “The Future of Cybersecurity: Digital Sovereignty for Sustainable Economic Development.” This event, running until September 19, brings together senior government officials, experts, and stakeholders from Morocco, the Arab world, and Africa to discuss the challenges of cyber resilience in the era of emerging technologies.
