Manama, Nibras Mohammed Talib, the CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairperson of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons, chaired the committee’s third meeting.
The chairperson affirmed the importance of coordination between various entities to keep pace with changes in the labour market and enhance Bahrain’s efforts in combating all kinds of trafficking in persons.
He added that the Kingdom maintained its leading position within (TIER 1) in the U.S. Department of State’s report to classify countries in the field of combating trafficking in persons, and the first country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to reach this classification and maintain it for the sixth consecutive year (2018-2023).
The committee includes representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Public Prosecution, the LMRA, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and the Ministry of Labour.
Along with the representatives of civil society institutions, which are the Bahrain Human Rights Observatory (BHRO), Bahrain Association for Tolerance and Religious Coexistence (TaAyoush), and Bahrain Human Rights Society.
