In response to a question about the pressure Algeria might be under because of its relations with Russia, President Tebboune, guest of honour at the plenary session of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), stressed that “Algerians, born free, will remain sovereign in their decisions and positions.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who chaired the opening of the SPIEF plenary session, thanked President Tebboune for his participation as guest of honour at the event.
More than 17,000 participants representing nearly 130 countries are taking part in the SPIEF plenary session, which runs until 17 June.
The theme of this major economic event is “Sovereign development as the foundation of a just world: joining forces for future generations”.
President Tebboune began a state visit to the Russian Federation last Tuesday, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
