Algeria Houses World’s Second-Largest Network of Technology and Innovation Support Centers

Algeria: Algeria houses the second largest network of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC), according to Mohamed Othmane Ahmed Essalek, Director of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) office in Algeria.

According to Algeria Press Service, Essalek announced this development during the 15th edition of the Innovation Fair, held at the National Polytechnic School of Oran. He highlighted that Algeria’s national network has been enhanced through collaboration with the Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI), focusing on three priority sectors: clean technologies, pharmaceutical sciences, and agriculture.

Essalek further mentioned that the first specialized network, concentrating on clean technologies, was launched in Annaba at the National Environmental Research Center. Plans for the other two networks are underway and expected to be operational shortly.

These centers serve a crucial function by providing Algerian inventors and researchers access to over 100 million patents and extensive scientific and technological databases. This access is intended to facilitate the development of new innovations, prevent redundant research efforts, and encourage more efficient and competitive scientific exploration.

Currently, INAPI oversees 144 CATI/TISC centers, with 115 of these centers situated within universities across Algeria.
