Algiers: The proceedings of the expert consultative meeting on the African Strategic Plan of Action on Countering Terrorism in Africa opened with the participation of an elite group of experts and specialists from various African regions and institutions.
According to Algeria Press Service, over two days of closed-session meetings, experts will discuss the resolution and draft continental strategic plan for counterterrorism action, alongside the political framework and regional action plans for combating terrorism, to assess and update the adopted mechanisms in line with current developments.
The event is meant to be a space for exchanging experiences and sharing best practices among various stakeholders, while developing a comprehensive prevention-based approach, addressing the root causes of terrorism, and supporting regional and international cooperation in the field.
The meeting is expected to conclude its work with a set of practical recommendations that will contribute to strengthening the joint African response and supporting the efforts of the African Union and member states in addressing the phenomenon of terrorism in all its forms.
