African Swimming Championship: Algeria wins four medals, including two gold

TUNIS – The Algerian swimming team won four medals (2 gold, 2 silver) during the finals of the first day of the 15th edition of the African Senior Championship (men and women), played on Saturday in Tunis.

Algeria’s gold medals were won by Oussama Sahnoune in the 100m freestyle (49.44) and Jaouad Syoud in the 200m butterfly (1:58.98), while the silver medals were won by Nesrine Medjahed in the 100m freestyle (57.26) and the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay (3:38.98).

The 15th edition of the African Swimming Championship continues until August 24 at the Olympic swimming pool in Radès with the participation of 29 countries.

Algeria takes part in this competition with 13 swimmers supervised by three coaches.

In addition to Algeria and Tunisia (host country) 27 other countries are participating in this event: Gambia, Guinea, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Ghana, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Angola, South Africa, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Egypt , Eswatini, Madagascar, Burundi and Cameroon.
