Algeria and Egypt Share Goalless Draw in Friendly Match

Cairo: Algeria’s A’ national team and Egypt’s squad finished level at 0-0 in a friendly played Monday at Cairo International Stadium, as part of their buildup for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, scheduled for 1-18 December.

According to Algeria Press Service, for this second friendly against the “Pharaohs,” following Friday’s 3-2 defeat, national coach Madjid Bougherra made several changes to his starting lineup. Islam Slimani, Algeria’s all-time leading scorer, was deployed up front and given the captain’s armband.

The first half saw L’Ghoul and his teammates struggle to show initiative, failing to create any real scoring chances. After the break, the Algerian team raised their tempo and began to pose more danger, with Meziane threatening twice in the 49th and 57th minutes, though still unable to convert. Their pressure was consistently repelled by a well-organized Egyptian back line.

This second fixture against Egypt is expected to be the last in the A’ national team’s preparation phase for the Arab Cup.
