Algiers: The President of the African Development Bank Group, Sidi Ould Tah, announced in Algiers that the group is keen on adopting and transferring Algeria’s successful development model to other parts of the African continent.
According to Algeria Press Service, Ould Tah expressed this interest following a meeting with the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He highlighted the African Development Bank Group’s admiration for Algeria’s progress in sectors such as housing and seawater desalination, recognizing the potential for these models to be implemented in other African countries.
During the meeting, Ould Tah presented the Group’s agenda with a focus on potential collaborations with Algeria. He underscored the Bank Group’s eagerness to support the implementation of the Laghouat-Ghardaia-El Meniaa railway project. This initiative is seen as pivotal not only for Algeria but for the continent, as it aims to create a vital link between Sahel countries and the Mediterranean, thereby facilitating the transport of goods and people.
Ould Tah also expressed gratitude to President Tebboune for his support during the Bank’s presidential elections in late May, noting that Algeria’s backing was crucial and steadfast. He reiterated the African Development Bank Group’s deep appreciation for the consistent support provided by Algeria.
