President Tebboune Directs Creation of New Bill for Agricultural Sector Overhaul

Algiers: The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has mandated the drafting of a new bill aimed at reorganizing the agricultural sector with an innovative and anticipatory approach. This directive was issued during a Council of Ministers’ meeting chaired by the President.

According to Algeria Press Service, the council’s statement highlighted the President’s call for the development of “a new agricultural guidance bill for definitive sector organization through a forward-looking vision involving specialist participation.” This initiative aims to ensure a comprehensive and structured approach to the management of the agricultural sector.

The statement further elaborated that President Tebboune instructed the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, in collaboration with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Exports Promotion, to expedite the importation of essential machinery. This includes the procurement of harvesting and planting equipment, particularly units under five years old, necessary for the effective harvesting of corn and oilseed crops such as sunflower.
