Livestock Development: Agriculture Minister Calls for Moroccan-French Roadmap

Paris: “We encourage the continuation of dialogue around a joint roadmap for the development of livestock farming, the promotion of technology transfer, applied research, and innovation,” said El Bouari during a conference on livestock farming in Morocco, held at the opening of the 34th Livestock Summit, where the Kingdom is the guest of honor. He stressed that Morocco’s participation in this annual event aims to generate tangible impact by strengthening exchanges between partners and enhancing cooperation between institutional and professional actors of the two friendly countries.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, referring to the intervention plans implemented in line with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Minister noted that the goal is to support breeders in facing the challenges related to the impact of drought and to preserve and rebuild the national herd. “Despite constraints, the sector maintains a positive dynamic and demonstrates technical and social ingenuity,” he pointed out, specifying that annual production reaches nearly 2.1 billion liters of milk, 540,000 tons of red meat, 784,000 tons of poultry meat, and about 5.6 billion consumption eggs.

These achievements, he said, are the result of a proactive policy led by the Ministry of Agriculture in coordination with professionals in the animal production sectors through the Green Morocco Plan (2008-2020) and the Generation Green 2020-2030 strategy. Similarly, the animal sectors benefit from enhanced support through program contracts signed between the government and the interprofessional federations of animal production sectors, covering the period 2021-2030, the Minister added.

In this context, he invited the French side to the 18th edition of the International Agricultural Fair in Morocco (SIAM), scheduled from April 20 to 26, 2026, in Meknes, which will be held under the theme of livestock farming. El Bouari also affirmed that, in the continuity of fruitful exchanges under the Moroccan-French Cross Agricultural Year, “this major event will mark a new stage in consolidating bridges between our sectors and further strengthening Moroccan-French cooperation.”
