Rabat: In an interview with MAP-New Delhi on the occasion of Throne Day celebrations, Rahman lauded the Kingdom’s spiritual diplomacy, emphasizing Morocco’s leading role in promoting religious tolerance and disseminating values of peace, openness and coexistence. “Morocco has always been at the forefront of interfaith dialogue and the fight against extremism. As a standard-bearer of moderation, the Kingdom enjoys the respect of all peace-loving people,” noted Rahman, who is also Deputy Secretary-General of the Indian Association of Diplomats.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, he highlighted the numerous initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom, such as organizing international forums on interfaith dialogue and establishing religious institutions dedicated to promoting the moderation advocated by Islam. This policy, he stressed, reflects the enlightened Vision of HM King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Commander of the Faithful, guarantor of spiritual unity and sound religious practice.
“His Majesty the King has consistently distinguished Himself as a key figure in promoting religious tolerance and interfaith dialogue,” he said. Rahman also underscored Morocco’s contribution to the training of imams from Africa and Asia, an effort that, according to him, helps counter extremist narratives and foster stability.
Furthermore, he emphasized the complementarity between Morocco’s religious diplomacy and its economic cooperation strategy in Africa, viewing it as an integrated approach that lends greater legitimacy to the Kingdom’s actions and contributes to building a more stable and secure regional environment. “By actively promoting moderate Islam, while engaging in economic cooperation, Morocco seeks to establish a more stable and secure environment in the region, where people can live in peace,” he concluded.
