Morocco’s Port Infrastructure Sets Benchmark for Gabon’s Development

Libreville: Morocco has succeeded in establishing itself as an international hub, thanks in particular to its highly modern port infrastructure, Boguikouma said in a statement to MAP-Libreville on the occasion of the Throne Day, adding that Gabon draws inspiration from Morocco, which remains a model in this regard.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the success of the Tanger Med Port Complex has now become a benchmark at the African, Mediterranean, and global levels. The facility exemplifies the level of development achieved in Morocco’s port infrastructure, which is why Gabon considers it a model worth emulating.

The Gabonese official emphasized the significance of Tanger Med in light of Gabon’s ambitions to transform its ports into next-generation and smart ports. He pointed out that Tanger Med stands as the model to follow for such transformation.

Boguikouma recalled that a framework cooperation agreement had been signed between OPRAG and the Tanger Med Special Agency. This agreement aims to establish a stable, strategic, and exemplary framework for cooperation in areas of common interest, such as port operations, logistics, technical exchange, and institutional development.

Highlighting the importance of Tanger Med’s expertise for the development of Gabon’s port sector, Boguikouma stated that the agreement reflects the quality of cooperative relations between his country and the Kingdom.
