Algeria and Zimbabwe Showcase Unified Stance on Global and Regional Issues

Algiers: President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, emphasized a complete convergence of positions between Algeria and Zimbabwe on international and regional issues, particularly in promoting peaceful solutions to conflicts in Africa, respecting state sovereignty, and rejecting foreign interference.

According to Algeria Press Service, President Tebboune, in a joint press statement with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, highlighted the shared pride and heritage linked to the African liberation struggle, motivating both countries to strengthen their historical relations. The Zimbabwean president’s visit to Algeria concluded with the signing of cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding in key sectors, marking a significant step forward in bilateral cooperation.

The agreements aim to establish a Joint Business Council and encourage economic opportunities in both nations. President Tebboune extended an invitation to participate in the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair in Algiers next September, furthering economic collaboration.

The discussions also provided an opportunity to exchange views on pressing regional and international matters. The leaders affirmed their unified stance on promoting peaceful resolutions to African conflicts, respecting state sovereignty, and rejecting foreign intervention. They also discussed the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, condemning the actions and supporting the Palestinian right to establish an independent state.

In addition, the meeting reaffirmed support for the Sahrawi people’s decolonization efforts, emphasizing the need for self-determination. As the African Union Coordinator on counter-terrorism, President Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s commitment to supporting the African Union’s peace and security initiatives, as well as efforts against terrorism, organized crime, and illegal immigration.
