Algiers: President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, hosted an official reception at the presidency headquarters for the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa. The event marked the beginning of a two-day official visit by President Mnangagwa to Algeria.
According to Algeria Press Service, the reception included the playing of both nations’ national anthems and an inspection of a Republican Guard honor detachment. The two leaders then posed for photographs to commemorate the occasion. Prior to the reception, President Mnangagwa paid respects at the Martyrs’ Memorial, honoring those who sacrificed their lives during Algeria’s War of National Liberation. This tribute involved laying a wreath and observing a moment of silence.
Following the tribute, President Mnangagwa toured the national museum of the Mujahid. During his visit, he was given an overview of Algeria’s history, with a focus on the Liberation War, which holds significant importance in the nation’s historical narrative.
