HM The King Leads Morocco Through Transformative Economic and Social Advances

Rabat: HM the King of Morocco has committed the nation to a significant and forward-looking transformation process, as highlighted by the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Adesina, in an interview with MAP on the occasion of Throne Day.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Adesina acknowledged the Sovereign’s vision and action to achieve set objectives, which has led to Morocco emerging as one of the most stable and advanced economies in Africa over the past quarter-century. Major strategic reforms and projects have been launched, resulting in the modernization of the country.

Adesina emphasized that Morocco’s growth is supported by a strengthened road and highway network, enhanced access to rural areas, and widespread access to drinking water. Investment in human capital has become a national priority, with reforms in education and vocational training, support for innovative entrepreneurship, and the promotion of strategic sectors.

He further noted that Morocco’s progress is founded on fundamental reforms, which have helped maintain macroeconomic stability, improve institutional performance, integrate the economy into global value chains, and rejuvenate the agricultural and industrial sectors. These developments have been accompanied by social progress, such as reduced poverty, longer life expectancy, and better access to education and basic services in rural areas.

On South-South cooperation, the AfDB President highlighted Morocco’s dedication to Africa’s growth, particularly through the organization of the 16th replenishment of the African Development Fund in Tangiers in December 2022, which raised nearly $10 billion. The Africa Investment Forum’s Market Days in Marrakech and Rabat in 2023 and 2024, respectively, generated significant investment intentions, underscoring the Kingdom’s role in transforming the African continent.
