Washington: Thanks to its geographical position, its stability and its political vision, Morocco is a ‘key hub’ for the United States in the region and beyond, said Michael Doran, Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for Peace and Security in the Middle East at the Hudson Institute.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Doran emphasized the importance of viewing Morocco as a crucial link between the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. He made these remarks after a meeting in Washington with Morocco’s Economy and Finance Minister, Nadia Fettah, and Moroccan Ambassador to the U.S., Youssef Amrani. Doran highlighted that Morocco’s unique geographical location, combined with its stability and political foresight, positions it as an indispensable ally to the United States. He expressed confidence in the continued success of U.S.-Morocco relations, stating, “I see nothing but success moving forward.”
Doran also spoke about the Atlantic initiative launched by HM King Mohammed VI, aimed at facilitating Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean. He described the initiative as a strategic move that aligns with Washington’s concerns for the Atlantic region. The Hudson Institute expert praised the initiative for its potential in economic development and the opportunities it presents. He noted that the initiative addresses the growing concerns of the United States regarding stability in the greater Atlantic area.
Doran concluded by acknowledging the visionary nature of King Mohammed VI’s initiative, which he believes is pivotal in addressing the complex dynamics on both sides of the Atlantic.
