Algiers: The President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers dedicated to discussing a bill on wakfs as well as receiving presentations on critical sectoral advancements, according to a press release issued by the council.
According to Algeria Press Service, the meeting included the Prime Minister’s report on the government’s activities over the past two weeks and featured interventions from various ministers. President Tebboune subsequently issued several instructions, directives, and orientations.
Regarding the bill on wakfs, the council debated and approved the legislation, after which President Tebboune emphasized the need to digitize all phases of the sector’s census to streamline religious affairs management.
In a presentation about digitization progress, the High Commissioner for Digitization provided a comprehensive briefing. The President set the end of 2025 as the deadline for completing a full census of State properties, aiming to establish a detailed database to inform the 2026 Finance Law.
Focusing on the rollout of 5G mobile networks, President Tebboune stressed the necessity for thorough studies to ensure the service’s implementation meets all technological and financial standards, ultimately benefiting the national economy and enhancing technological services for citizens.
Discussing the results of the General Agricultural Census, President Tebboune highlighted the census’s significance for informed decision-making and modernizing the agricultural sector. He directed the Minister of Agriculture to conduct a detailed census of national agricultural production, including livestock, irrigated areas, and fruit trees, particularly olive and palm trees.
The meeting concluded with the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements, furthering collaborative efforts in the discussed sectors.
